My journey into the heart of Guåhan

The Guåfak: One Story, Many Strands

Join me as I embark on a three-year mission to capture the soul of Guåhan (Guam). The above video explores three interconnected projects I’ve developed that form a single, powerful narrative—a Guåfak, or traditional woven mat:

  • Architects of a Renaissance: Portraits of the CHamoru leaders, artists, and activists reclaiming their cultural identity.

  • Shadows of Conflict: A documentary dive into the island’s harrowing experience during WWII and how the land itself still bears the scars.

  • The Island's Soul: A deep landscape study that explores the unique geology and hidden wonders of the north and south.

Through my lens, I’ll be investigating the profound connection between the people, their history, and the land they call home; Guam.

The above video provides a brief overview and is about 7-minutes long.

The audio file below goes more in-depth into the projects I’ll be pursuing during my time in Guam and is about 16-minutes long.
